  Advice

There are many resources available on the internet that offer good advice on internet based child safety, unfortunately those resources ONLY consider that the internet can be accessed using a Personal Computer (PC).

The typical advice offered to parents from these forums and government sponsored websites:

Place your child's or family computer in a public area

Check the computer's internet history regularly to see which sites your child has been visited

The latest devices available on the market today are mobile in nature and parent's cannot ensure these devices are used 'in a public area'. Gaming consoles such as the Nintendo Wii offer no browsing history for the 'Internet Channel' and as a result, leaves this familar and well understood advice for parents inaccurate.

Click here for a report from the news channel WFAA-TV in Dallas, USA. Shelly Slater reports on how sexually orientated sites advertise themselves as being 'Wii and Playstation friendly'.
